JESUS Delivers is a joint ministry between The St. Paul Evangelistic Association
food shelf and The Lord Jesus Christ Church (West St. Paul), Trinity Lutheran Church (Stillwater), and Our Saviour's Lutheran (East Bethel). Modeled after the home grocer, SimonDelivers, the ministry serves about
250 lunches 3 times per week to the St. Paul homeless community using a mobile kitchen and lay ministry volunteers. Since October 2004, JESUS
Delivers has served over 150,000 meals, donated over 150 cubic yards of clothes, given away 3000 backpacks,
tents, sleeping bags and another 3000 bibles.
A TYPICAL DAY
A typical serving day for a
team of volunteers includes a morning (9 to noon) spent preparing a meal (food provided) for 250 people, an afternoon
(12:30 to 3:30) serving it from inside the truck, and the last hour cleaning and sanitizing. See
How the Ministry Works for more details.
GETTING ORGANIZED
Currently there are three churches that organize volunteer teams to prepare
and serve the meals.
The Lord Jesus Christ Church organizes Tuesdays;
Our Saviour's Lutheran
Church organizes Thursdays; and
Trinity Lutheran Church organizes Saturdays. See
How to Volunteer for details on how you and/or your church can participate.
STORIES OF HOPE AND FAITHWhen we follow the Holy Spirit, stories of hope and faith abound.
It started with Joe Kimball's article in the Minneapolis Star and Tribune, November 7, 2004 with a title, "Feeding Body
and Soul in St. Paul". Other articles from other volunteers followed including "Alice", "God Dressed
Me Today", "Two Copper Coins", "They Think I'm Dead", "God is Good", "A Christmas
Gift", "The Coldest Man", "The Good Samaritan", "Chicken Soup for Homeless Souls", "The
Miracle of the Shoes", "Twenty Below Zero", and "Church Outfitters". Read the
Stories, then become one!
