I asked Boots, another long time customer, "How are you doing?" He replied, "God is great! I'm off the drugs (6 months); feeling better physically. I need to share two things with you...for the 2nd time in my life I've been able to buy my mother a Christmas gift. There is a necklace on sale; I can't tell you the feeling inside to be able to do that for her...The other cool thing in my life is that I've been speaking to different groups during Homelessness Awareness Month...I am trying to educate people. Everyone understands that there are the rich, middle class, and poor; I try to explain the fourth class, the homeless. There are 1001 reasons why people become homeless; every situation is different. But we all share the same questions: Where do we get our next meal? Where do we sleep tonight? And who cares? Thank you for being here everyday...it gives us hope..."
